"Having a slice of pure White Carrara marble ( Italy ) in my studio for more than a year ( it was a leftover of cutting 2 consoles out of one big block) inspired me to create Excalibur.
The piece of marble was so fragile that it was impossible to make a functional object with it. The sharp point was so delicate that it wouldn’t survive any hard contact.
To drill a hole in the thicker part and than letting it hang from the ceilings was one option but I felt uncomfortable in drilling and damaging the stone, so I came to the solution of keeping it frozen in the air by pushing, with an enormous power to both sides of the stone at the same time.
And so it hangs motionless a few inches above the ground as a lightning just before its strike"
