La Liberté is 55 feet of beauty. Her beautiful softly curved lines were drawn by the master Erik Salander. The builder and playboy Max Gumpel ordered the unique and for the time unusually luxuriously equipped archipelago cruiser. Max was Greta Garbo's first love. Their friendship lasted a lifetime and there were constant rumors that they would marry. When Greta left the spotlight in Hollywood, she often visited Max's country house. There they sailed La Liberté also called Libban together. Greta felt peace and freedom.
