Ivar Johnsson (1885–1970) was one of Sweden's most influential sculptors. His work was found in several public places in the country. In the port of Gothenburg, the harbor entrance is decorated with the sculpture, Woman by the Sea. In the same city, Johnsson also designed decorations for Karl Johans skolan. The school was designed by architect Gunnar Asplund. The sculptor and architect also collaborated on the construction of Stockholm City Library, whose entrance is adorned with reliefs designed by Ivar Johnsson. At the World's Fair in Paris in 1925, Johnsson received a Grand Prix medal for the bronze sculpture David. For Näfveqvarn's mill, the sculptor designed a number of objects, including urns and a letterpress.

Cast iron is a living material and each product is unique. Properly maintained, a cast iron product can last for generations. The patina the cast iron gets over time is part of the product's unique value. Näfveqvarn's products are finished with alcohol-based paint to withstand moisture and water. How long the paint protects depends, among other things, on the weather and wind. If you want to give a new shine to the products, you can brush them with a wire brush and paint a new coat of paint.
